Gigabyte P2532N Review

Courage to be unique. Gigabyte looking to build a 15.6-inch multimedia notebook that can serve as Nvidia Optimus technology, but high-definition display, and quad-core processors.

When T1125N Convertible, P2532N is only the second device to think carefully Gigabyte. Gigabyte plays a relatively minor position in the notebook sector. There are only a few devices from the same manufacturer available for Internet transactions. To find out if Gigabyte deserves more attention, we took a 15.6-inch P2532N. Expensive multimedia notebook combines stylish case with powerful components for the medium and premium.

Gigybyte site currently lists two different models. Let's start P2532N, which we crossed, and sold about 1,200 euros. The buyer may not be just a fast quad-core Intel (Core i7 2630QM) and DirectX 11 graphics card from Nvidia (GeForce 550M) at this price. 750 GB (7200 rpm) and eight gigabytes of DDR3 memory (1333 MHz) are also included. In addition to a normal DVD burner and a shiny Full HD screen.

The second model, called P2532V is currently unavailable at any German dealer according to "". The components are identical to the first model, for the most part. The difference is in the display. Instead of a "standard" 60 Hz screen, using a Gigabyte 3D capable of 120 Hz is shown in P2532V. Updated images, movies and games can also be enjoyed in the third dimension with the shutter glasses included, if you want. The screen only has a resolution of 1366x768 pixels and 1920x1080 pixels are not as 3D function uses a lot of power.

Potential buyers must choose between high resolution and 3D support. This meter before taking personally the standard version. On the one hand, the NVIDIA 3D Vision technology could not completely convince the test. Furthermore, the 3D version is not an automatic change of graphics (Nvidia Optimus).

Intel Core i7 is 2630QM Sandy Bridge generation of powerful and is made of the width of 32 nm. 995000000 transistors and six indication MB L3 cache size, high-performance capabilities. Base to 2.00 GHz is not exactly huge, but the CPU can be overclocked up to 2.90 GHz, thanks to the Turbo Boost function.

Hyper Threading is also an important function. Eight subjects can be treated simultaneously with the simulation of four virtual cores. While some applications can clearly benefit from Hyper Threading, games not react to this technology. A built-in graphics chip, called HD 3000 Graphics, is one of the functions of the Core i7 2630QM. Power consumption is above average. Intel said a TDP of 45 watts (equivalent to a Core i7 & 2720QM 2820QM).
