ThinkPad E220S is a brother for 14-inch 12-inch Lenovo ThinkPad E420s. This nicely portable laptop offering the latest generation of Intel Core series and graphics, 4GB of memory. Notebeook good performance and reasonable price that weighs just over three pounds.

Lenovo offers several configuration options for the ThinkPad E220, but at the time of writing the two options available on Lenovo.com presented the slowest processor is the Intel Core i3-2357M processor (1.30GHz) and the fastest Intel Core i7-2617M Processor (1.5 GHz). As the 14-inch E420 we have already discussed, the E220 does not come with two or even three years standard warranty business like other ThinkPads. In addition, Lenovo uses a removable battery and hard drives Seagate Slim 7 mm (standard portable hard drive is 9.5 mm) to give this laptop a lighter weight and slim shape.

Build and Design
As mentioned above, the E220S is a smaller version of the 14-inch E420s. These E-series devices have a number of design elements that distinguish them from outside the traditional ThinkPad. E220S has rounded edges and polished metal in place of all-business, box-like shape, which has become the hallmark of ThinkPad. Open the door screen and you will find a simplified keyboard and a touchpad with no extra buttons, media, or the Quick Launch buttons. The screen is big piece of shiny plastic covering, which Lenovo calls "Infinity Glass". It helps to improve contrast and color saturation, but also creates the reflections of the sun or bright artificial light and attracts smudges and dirt on the screen.

Although outside the E220 is very user friendly, this notebook has a support structure of metal alloy in the chassis for increased durability. Lenovo E220 also gave a spill-resistant keyboard, "ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery," which restores your system settings in case of system crash, and the typical "Active Protection System" that detects sudden drops and park your hard drive to prevent disk failure from droplets. As beautiful as these is that I was not impressed by the support structure on the top of the screen. It bends too easily and I'm worried long-term screen saver, if you're a frequent traveler. I can not imagine that this cover can withstand too many results from the theft of a suitcase lock guide air into compartments.

The most interesting design of the E220 is Lenovo's commitment to be environmentally responsible. The E220 is EPEAT Gold, RoHS and Energy Star, LED backlit displays are 100% mercury and arsenic. Plastic components are made from recycled more than 10% and the laptop comes in a cardboard box with 100% recycled non-toxic inks. My only complaint is that Lenovo seems to believe that environmentally conscious consumers as non-removable batteries. Li-polymer battery in the ThinkPad E220 is packed inside the chassis and there is no easy way to replace the battery on their own without the complete disassembly of the laptop.
